GERMAN STUDIES IN ROMANIA – THE JOURNAL „TEMESWARER BEITRÄGE ZUR GERMANISTIK“

Summary/Abstract: The article is dedicated to the German studies in Romania, especially to the journal „Temeswarer Beiträge zur Germanistik”, a peer-reviewed scientific journal in the field of humanities, which publishes studies in the field of German studies from an intercultural and interdisciplinary perspective. The aim of founding the journal was to make the field of the German studies in Timișoara known nationally and internationally, „Temeswarer Beiträge zur Germanistik” being the first German language journal in Timișoara and one of the oldest German language journals in Romania. „Temeswarer Beiträge zur Germanistik” is indexed in many international databases and has become a reference publication both nationally and internationally. The article presents a brief history of the journal, whose first issue appeared in 1997 and deals also with the strategies and the perspectives that lie ahead. The text also points out the role of the journal for the development of the German studies in Romania.
