Summary/Abstract: Upon taking office in 2021, President Joe Biden announced that „America is back”. After the first year, however, the outcomes of the new administration’s efforts fell short of voters’ expectations, compounded by the emergence of record inflation, hitting over 9% at the mid-year peak. A turning point for Biden’s administration was Russia’s attack on Ukraine on 24 February 2022. As a result, US foreign policy focused mainly on issues related to Russia’s aggression against Ukraine and on countering the strategic competition with China. Domestic politics, meanwhile, centered around three main topics: the upcoming midterm elections, the condition of the US economy, and the most divisive social issues such as: immigration, abortion, gun control, and racial divisions. By the end of 2022, it can be said that „America is back” indeed, but mainly in international politics. The United States has succeeded in reaffirming its position as a global power, but so far without restoring stability and unity in its domestic politics.
