Summary/Abstract: The Albanian Christian lexicon contains a very rich inventory of words borrowed from Latin. It should be noted, however, that for the basic notions “God”, “(Holy) Spirit” and “faith” are used autochthonous terms: hyj, hyjni, perëndi, frymë, besë. Taking into account the concordances between Albanian and Romanian (on the one hand) and Western Romance languages (on the other hand), the article proposes a hypothesis on the history of the pair formed by the terms besë (autochthonous) and fe (lat.fides).
