Increasing the usage of renewable energy sources in Poland.

Summary/Abstract: This article focuses on the factors affecting the development of the renewable energy sector in Poland. In accordance with the EU regulations, Poland has to double the renewable energy share in its total electricity production by 2020. The author assesses this issue by discussing, inter alia, EU renewable energy goals, renewable energy sources in Poland (solar energy, geothermal energy, biomass, hydropower, wind power) as well as renewable electricity production and consumption. He also looks at the challenges facing the development of renewable energy sources in Poland.
