Summary/Abstract: This paper represents an invitation to read some interesting books which describe the Communist period from a different point of view– as a witness and as a fictional character. Valeriu Anania’s Memories presents a life dedicated to church inspite of some difficulties from the Communist period of time. The human being succeeded in passing through the tortures from the prison, after that he wrote not only a book of Memories, but he also translated The Bible – the most important of his work. Ioana Nicolaie’s novel is the story of a girl who grew up during the communist era and suffered a double censorship – in society and at home. Arsenia, the main character, comes from a large family, wit 12 children, who lived the humility of being poor and had to work hard for little joys.
