Summary/Abstract: Violence is the most serious global problem of humanity today. It is quite disturbing that this concept is used together with family that is identified with this institution such as love, respect, compassion, sacrifice, mercy and solidarity. In spite of the fact that there are some differences and changes throughout the world, family is still a fundamental institution which contains so many terms and feelings such as warmth, peace, motherhood, fatherhood, love, loyalty, protection and solidarity. They all contains many positive aspects in the world. Domestic violence is a type of violence against the weakest individuals in the family, especially in physical, emotional, social and material terms, and mostly against women. Women, who are most faced to domestic violence, have become the subject of academic studies today. Women face different forms of violence at home. All these actions disrupt the integrity and balance of women and harm them physically, psychologically and socially. In the study, we aimed to reveal the social and cultural dimensions of the violence in “private space” experienced by women who are in the immediate part of social life today. Our goal is to mention first about the phenomenon of violence and domestic violence against women in this study. Later we will focus on various suggestions about solutions for preventing domestic violence to women in the research.
