Social Importance of Public Library in the Context of Contemporary Spaces for Intercultural Dialogue

Summary/Abstract: The study examines the prerequisites and possibilities of the modern library institution to create a space for active dialogue among individual, among representatives of different generations, communities and groups, among people from different cultures, among libraries. Evidence is presented to increase its commitment to the development of social progress, the increasing responsibility and the participation of the library in solving problems and crises in communities through the methods of humanism and universal human values. The article gives examples of library documents, policies, best practices that work to preserve and enhance its social and democratic efficiency, complement its energy to impact on human relationships.
