Summary/Abstract: At the current stage Privacy is a fundamental concept that refers to the individual’s right to keep their personal life, communications and activities secure and confidential thus, protecting them from unwanted or abusive intrusions by others, whether they are private entities or governmental. This principle is necessary for the respect of human dignity, individual autonomy and personal freedom in a democratic society. The inviolability of private life includes rights such as the right to privacy, the right to confidentiality of communications, the right to the protection of personal data and the right to secrecy of correspondence recognized and protected by international laws and treaties, as well as by the constitutions of several countries. Protecting and respecting this inviolability is often approached to maintain the balance between state power and individual liberties, thereby ensuring a society in which every individual can live in greater safety.
