Summary/Abstract: Romanian historiography, although it does not record a particular era of the Movileşti, however, researching the rise and glory of this important boyar family, we could delimit a peak period of the Movileşti, which includes several decades (the end of the 16th century and the beginning of the 17th century), during which many of the members of this family became rulers of the Romanian Countries and hierarchs. At the end of this century, an event of great importance takes place in the pastoral-missionary, but also cultural-philanthropic life of the Orthodox Church of Moldova, namely the establishment of a new diocese - the Episcopate of Hus - implicitly the election and enthronement of its first hierarch, Bishop Ioan, in the year 1598. With the establishment of this new bishopric, changes also occurred in the territorial composition of the other dioceses; The Romanian Diocese comprising the southern part of Moldova.A major role in these historical circumstances was played by Metropolitan Petru Movilă of Kyie, who compiled a Catechism, which would later become the ʻConfession of Faith of the Orthodox Church’. The Dosite Patriarch of Jerusalem also wrote a Confession of Faith under the name ʻShield of Orthodoxy’; and Patriarch Joachim of Moscow, took a stand against those who were leaning towards some unorthodox points of view. Our research tried to show that the Episcopate (Diocese) of Roman had a significant role in the religious life of Moldova, on the Vladic see here a number of 13 hierarchs succeeded each other, some of them later occupying the metropolitan see, enlightened hierarchs, spiritual shepherds, founders of holy places and defenders of the right faith, in the way of alluvions foreign to Orthodoxy, who recorded bright pages in the chronicle of this ancient diocese. From the research of the documents of the time, those that have been preserved, we can easily see that the entire Metropolitanate of Moldova (not only the Diocese of Roman), went through great turmoil, due primarily to the instability of the rulers in the seat of the country, something that determined the change to some hierarchs from the eparchial seat, or their replacement. We often see this happening in the Episcopate of Roman during this period, when some hierarchs who did not share the views of the ruler and the great boyars who supported him were either removed or made ʻparetisis’, that is, they retired from the welcome to their monastery of metania. This instability had negative consequences on the development of the entire church life, whether we are talking about pastoral-missionary, social philanthropic, cultural, or administrative-household activities, which is why it is difficult to establish the archpastoral period of some bishops, who succeeded each other, some even three times, thanks to the little documentary news we have about them.
