Innovation as a determinant of socio-economic development of Świętokrzyskie voivodeship

Summary/Abstract: Innovation in the current economy could be characterized by: short product life cycle and its high quality, global market, increased awareness and consumer requirements becoming significant factors of socio-economic development. Economics devotes more attention to the development of research related to innovation and its impact on economic growth. Innovation frequently is the result of technical progress and, as such, is a determinant of the socio-economic growth. The relationship between socio-economic development of regions and the level of innovation is a feedback loop. Socioeconomic development has an impact on productivity growth and better economic results, and consequently on the growth of GDP, which determines the degree of innovation as well as increases its attractiveness to investors. This article aims to analyze diversity of socio-economic development in Świętokrzyskie voivodeship and this is also an attempt to determine the relationship between the level of socio-economic development and innovation.
