Summary/Abstract: The paper focuses on the evolution of the labor laws from early Acts regarding the guilds to the unification of regulation in labor field, following the territory unification of Romania and international developments and achievements in the field. The existence of social security rights stipulated in different laws and in force only for some Provinces of the country and in accordance with the ratification of the Versailles Treaty by Romania, Romanian legislation regarding social security and labor law entered a new era and led to the unification of social insurance law nationwide, known as Ioanițescu Act of 1933. The act contained regulations on occupational diseases that were treated as work accidents, and were granted, upon the first day of illness the aid for incapacity at the rate of social insurance, borne equally by the employer and the worker.
