Summary/Abstract: Acording to Bohuslav Beneš (Česká lidová slovesnost – Výbor pro současného čtenáře, Praha 1990) a specific folklore genre is ”such an organization of a specific narrative material and such a complex of the techniques based on traditions, which are found the optimum expression for a certain subject matter (in a spontaneous and unprepared oral realization)”. Beneš’s genre division of the folk literatuer is based on the existence of its two fundamentals types, folk poetry and folk prose. The autor of this contribution concentrates on the genre problems in song folklore. Using two folk bllads he tries to illustrate how the reduction of a text or a different development of an incipit motif can make the genre transformation of a baladic piece into a satiric one.
