Summary/Abstract: The name of the Austrian field marshal Ernst Gideon baron von Laudon is still living on the Czech lands thanks to a pub hit. But it came into being after the war between Austria and Prussia in 1866. The author of this contribution takes his interest in the Czech songlike pieces which came into being as the echoes of Laudon’s war success in Moravia – particularly with relation to the ineffectual siege of Olomouc in 1758. Laudon’s credits for the capture of Belgrade during the war between Austria and Turkey in 1789 as well as his death in Nový Jičín in 1790 have their echoes in the Czech broadside ballads and in two booklets glamorizing E. G. baron von Laudon, which were translated from German.
