Summary/Abstract: Waste is an inevitable outcome of production and consumption processes and can be considered an indicator of how efficiently society uses natural resources. Statistical calculations were made in order to determine the key factors affecting municipal waste generation. They were based on World Development Indicators and Euromonitor International Global Market Information Databases. Statistical package for social sciences (SPSS) was used. Research results revealed that the total amount of municipal waste was not influenced by the variations of population number, yet apparent links were identified between GDP and total amount of municipal waste. The amount of municipal waste per capita increased in all the countries under investigation irrespective of GDP variation trends and tendencies. Results of cluster analysis indicated coherence between the amount of municipal waste and the expenditures for non-durable commodities.
