Summary/Abstract: The paper presents the part of research defining cohesion of knowledge in engineering and aesthetics of young people. Knowledge in engineering as a concrete result of the socialization process of an individual can be an informative complex assessment indicator of both cultural potential of an individual (creativity, interests, motivation, will) and personality development and prospects for future activities (study achievement, ability to learn both in formal and informal educational environment, performance of social roles which require intellectual and creative potential, etc.). The following assessment instruments were employed: comprehension-knowledge in engineering (applied technical knowledge and theoretical technical knowledge) tests and questionnaire “Young people and engineering”. Conclusion of the research: distinguishing aesthetical elements in appliances and equipment is not an essential factor affecting the level of comprehension-knowledge in engineering, but aesthetical perception by girls involves appliances and equipment and may raise their level of comprehension-knowledge in engineering.
