Summary/Abstract: The proposed material is devoted to Pyotr E. Kornilov — scientist, museum and public figure, teacher, editor, collector. He was active and in demand up to the closing ages of his life, which was full of events that played a significant role in the development of our country in the XX XX th century. In 1922 Pyotr E. Kornilov entered the Archaeological Institute, which later the same year became the Social sciences department of the Petrograd State University. P. Kornilov graduated the University in 1925. In 1946 Kornilov returns to the Leningrad State University, where he teaches and takes a position of the deputy head of the History of Arts department of the History Research Institute of the Leningrad State University. And while it has been known a lot about him since 1932, when he finally moved to Leningrad and held leading positions in the organization of artistic processes, the early years of Kornilov’s personality formation are not fully investigated. The present article is the first attempt to fill this gap.
