MYTH IN DANIELA HODROVÁ´S NOVEL PERUNŮV DEN (PERUN´S DAY)

Summary/Abstract: The first part of the paper deals with general aspects and theories of mythology in modern novel (J. I. White, Z. Neubauer, D. Hodrová). In the second part Hodrová´s novel Perunův den is analysed as an example of the changed use of myth in literature during the second half of the 20th century. Hodrová´s text is a poetic expression of inner space, where there are no boundaries between reality and fantasy, between spiritual and material world. Mythical and biblical motives and allusions are interwoven with everyday life and often used in a distorted and grotesque way in order to express the ambiguity and search for meaning of being in the chaotic contemporary world.
