Summary/Abstract: This article discusses the issue of the impact of foreign direct investment (FDI) on the processes of economic development of the region and the host country. It is commonly believed that foreign direct investments contribute to economic development and improve the competitive position of the host region. Thus, the article is an attempt to analyze the role of FDI for economic development of the country and the region. The discussion indicating benefits and risks in this area is essential to conduct a proper economic policy.
