Summary/Abstract: This article presents recent developments in respect to the inflow of foreign direct investment (FDI) to the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). It turns out that FDI in the country, even though it is generally positive, is not satisfactory. The comparison of Democratic Republic of Congo with other countries in sub-Saharan Africa shows that this country, as well as a significant part of the African continent, is still marginalized when it comes to the attraction of foreign direct investment. The underlying causes of poor performance are numerous and well known. In this study the author has tried to indicate and analyze the causes of faint interest of transnational corporations in DRC. It is noteworthy that the phenomenon of FDI in sub-Saharan Africa is characterized by huge disparities in its allocation. Some countries, mainly oil-exporting ones, retain a large majority of inflows leaving a much smaller part to the others.
