Summary/Abstract: Despite the relatively small number of Macedonians living today in Romania, their contribution over time to the economic and cultural life of Romania was most significant. Having a predominantly Orthodox population and having remained isolated from the Ottoman space, Romania (Wallachia, later the Kingdom of Romania) has been extremely welcoming to Christians of Rumelia. For this reason, in successive waves, many Macedonians have found asylum for some time or were permanently incorporated into the north-Danubian society. This contribution aims to outline: (1) a gallery of Macedonian-born Romanian personalities exemplifying various fields of activity in Romania and the Republic of Moldova, and (2) a gallery of Macedonian personalities who, while in Romania, had decisive experiences for their careers.
