Summary/Abstract: World food situation today is characterized by a deep gap between the excess and scarcity of food. This problem is exacerbated by rising food prices on world markets in 2007-2008. Also, the global system of support to agriculture in developing countries requires urgent reform. These effects are a significant barrier to the implementation of the principles of sustainable development, both on global and local scale. Therefore, now we can see changes in thinking about global food security. Highly developed countries and international organizations have noted the importance of agricultural development in developing countries in combating hunger and improving the quality of life. Such actions have been taken by the United Nations and the European Union. However, the question remains the problem of effectiveness of the proposed solutions.
