Summary/Abstract: The paper examines the depiction of London in two films, the British Dirty Pretty Things and the Turkish Island of Hope, from an Occidentalist approach. It argues that the metropolis acts as a corrupting influence on the immigrant heroes and heroines, turning them from ‘virgins’ into ‘whores’.
