Summary/Abstract: Charlotte Bronte’s Jane Eyre and Jean Rhys’s Wide Sargasso Sea share the problematic connection between the canonical work and its modernist revision, calling forth a debate upon their either joined or separate influence in the literary landscape. This present paper aims to ‘deconstruct’ this problematic connection by employing the analytic lenses of feminism, postcolonialism and modernism, so as to depict the viability of both novels and maybe of a different canon altogether.
