Summary/Abstract: This article discusses some general hypotheses of the social (in)adequacy of the Bulgarian constitutional models for the last 120 years. By making a very general overview of the critical visions for the current Bulgarian Constitution, the article draws some parallels between the constitutional model of 1879 and the present constitutional regulation. The author comes to the conclusion that despite the apparent similarities there exist principally different grounds for the social inadequacy of the Constitution then and now, when Bulgaria is undergoing a period of transition. In this respect the analogy hides, rather than reveals the essence of the social contradiction that the Bulgarian constitutional model reproduces in the end of the XIXth and in the end of the XXth century.
