Summary/Abstract: The paper is about the role of active learning/teaching in the higher education reform in accordance with the Bologna Declaration. The connection, i.e. the characteristics that are common to the ongoing reform and active learning methods have been presented, and the necessity of active learning/teaching methods in achieving the set goals as fundamental reform element has been pointed out. The questions of basic requirements for implementation of courses with students as active participants – partners have been raised, and some answers - guidelines for further actions within the reform are given.
