Summary/Abstract: Both proper names and pronouns have a common feature − they are used to identify an object. However, proper names and index-pronouns accomplish this without using any additional referential means. They are self-sufficient (or autosemantic as E. Padučeva puts it). Pronouns, on the other hand, are the core of those referential means. This is their main function. Therefore, if proper names sui generis have unique reference and if by means of pronouns we only create names with such unique reference, then the combination of a pronoun with a proper name presents a problem which deserves special linguistic exploration. The aim of the present paper is to find an answer to the question of what the communicative function of such constructions is.
