Exhibition of Bulgarian Books in Prague in 1934

Summary/Abstract: The article is divided in parts that present the historical premises, organization and content-matter of the exhibition; the major characteristics of the production of Bulgarian illustrated books for children from the 1920s and the first half of the 1930s of the 20th century; the opinion of the Czech and Bulgarian art critics from the period of the 1930s of the 20th century on illustrated children's books in Bulgaria. The article on the Bulgarian book exhibition at the Prague National Museum (1934) uses the cultural-historical and comparative working methods where the author presents and comments on data about the Bulgarian and Czech children's books illustrations of the 19th and 20th century and also on the Bulgarian and Czech critical ideas of the 1930s of the past century. The article is accompanied by rich illustration material, presenting the international importance of the stylistic, artistic and content achievements in the sphere of Bulgarian children's illustrations from the 1920s and the first half of the 1930s of the 20th century.
