Summary/Abstract: The effect of logistic actions of companies is the high level of customer service. High standard of services absorbs more costs, although their impact on sales volume and generated profits of an enterprise is undisputed. The ideal solution is therefore to find the optimum ratio between an effort on handling costs and the efficiency of its level. Now, logistic service provides one of the essential tools to compete on the market. Its importance grows together with progressing globalization, growth in electronic commercial transactions, extent of created logistic network or growing demands and expectations of customers. The article is to present the essence and the importance of the increasing role of logistics in the sector of trade over the last years.
