The students come from divorced and nondivorced families. Besides the students, the mothers from both types of families and the grandparents of nondivorced families have been interviewed, too. The attitude of the three generations towards divorce and its consequences has been traced also which makes evident the differences and the similarities in the generations culture on the matter. The comparison of the results for the nondivorced and the divorced families shows that the liberalization of the attitude towards divorce takes place at a faster pace within the students of the divorced parents. The conclusions of the paper are complimented by a sample survey of family problems in Bulgaria carried by the National Statistical Institute. The influence of education, urbanization and age on the liberalization of public opinion on divorce is made obvious, too.
