Summary/Abstract: Computers have been used in electronic music as control and processing devices, as means for the conveyance of instructions to sound-generating analogous equipment. These systems have made possible the programming of sound material alterations, carried out automatically or instantaneously, transforming the studio into an instrument having a memory of its own and functioning in real time. Like any other fundamental movement in world culture, the evolution of electronic music was marked by a series of great personalities, who made possible the advent of this type of music and who, through their diverse thinking and pursuits, contributed to the creation of a multitude of trends in this field.
