Summary/Abstract: The present article analyses the plane of perception in literary discourses. The reading of Juozas Aputis's short story "Boars Running on the Horizon" focuses on the figurative manifestation of axiological structures of meaning while the inter-pretations of Henrikas Radauskas's and Sigitas Geda's poems explore the subject's direct interaction with the plastic and rhythmic attributes of the world as perceived through senses. This analysis of literary texts makes use of the methodological approaches of both "standard" semiotics (semiotics of action) and "esthesic" semiotics which emphasises the sensual manifestations of meaning. The author of the article maintains that the narrative perspective and immediate experience of esthesis constitute two complementary and reinforcing forms of world-cognition: perception gains meaning and the articulated meaning embraces the semantic effects of perception.
