Implementation of chosen taxonomic procedures for the analysis of socio-economic development of Polish voivodeships

Summary/Abstract: An attempt has been made in the paper to study socio-economic development of Polish voivodeships. The analysis covered the following four areas: level of economic deve-lopment, level of social development, technical infrastructure development, demographic potential and situation on the labour market. A chosen method of multivariate comparative analysis, namely Z. Hellwig’s taxonomic measure of development, has been applied. The study concerns the year 2009. Data published by Central Statistical Office in January 2011 were used for the analysis.
