Summary/Abstract: The basic objective of the present study is to reveal the impact of socialization on the non-market evaluation of archaeological objects of the cultural legacy, including the impact on the propensity to donate personal funds for the preservation and growth of this legacy. A standardized questionnaire has been used to study the attitudes of 301 visitors and residents of the city of Kiten as regards certain archaeological sites in the city. On the basis of a descriptive, common factor analysis and regression analysis, the author shows that the declared willingness to pay for the preservation of the cultural heritage is positively correlated with: the expected direct benefits to be derived from this care for the legacy (for instance, the development of cultural tourism); the perception that this heritage is a value; respect for the generally accepted formal and informal rules and the average monthly income of respondents. The general conclusion drawn on this basis is that well-socialized persons (who perceive cultural heritage as a value and who follow the commonly accepted rules) are more inclined than the others to donate personal funds for protection of the legacy.
