Summary/Abstract: The article discusses literary criticism of the outstanding Lithuanian prose-writer Juozas Aputis, shows the broadness of his literary interests: attention to foreign literature, literary heritage of exile, creation of contemporaries, the first books of young authors. The article emphasizes dissident elements in the criticism of Soviet times, competence, harmony of benevolence and high standards, clear and consistent system of esthetic and ethic values, tolerance and adherence to principle, individual features of the expression of critical thought.
