The Writer 's Creation in the Realm of Critique

Summary/Abstract: The article analyses and evaluates Juozas Aputis' - one of the outstanding Lithuanian prose writers, - creative reception which has been formed during four decades in the literary science and criticism. The writer's situation in soviet times was rather ambiguous: the writer wasn't loved by the authorities of that time and more than once experienced discrimination. However, he was early acknowedged by the readers and favourably evaluated by the profesional critics. The author of the article after reviewing the contribution to the analysis of Aputis' writings of A. Zalatorius, J. Sprindytė, E. Bukelienė, V. Kelertienė, R. Šilbajoris, M. Martinaitis, V. Martinkus, V. Juknaitė and others comes to the conclusion that professional literary critique with respect to the writer was not an opponent but an understanding and benevolent partner.
