Aspects of the Baltic Self-Consciousness in Pre-Historical Researches

Summary/Abstract: The article analyzes the validity of the Baltic self-consciousness in Lithuania’s pre-historic period as well as discusses the terms, which name certain Baltic history periods and which vaguely reflect their essence. The author introduces different terms to identify these periods in the Baltic history, makes comments on their content, presents his own position and relevant sources. The author also hopes that Lithuania’s scientific society, both historians and archeologists, will get involved in the discussion of the above mentioned issues and, as a result, agree upon the most appropriate terms to name the oldest periods in Lithuania’s history as well as corresponding dates.
