Summary/Abstract: The article presents the material and results of the research of the Scalvian society in the second half of the 4th century and the second half of the 5th century, namely of the cemetery of Vėluikiai. The research focused on the reflection of society's spiritual culture on burial customs as well as investigated the heritage of manufacture activities in the spheres of the production of weapons, tools, household articles and ornaments. The author emphasizes the autochthonic origin of the finds such as weapons, riding gear, household articles and ornaments. The article also presents a more detailed boundary of the Scalvian ethnos - now it is fixed in the district of Skaudvilė, next to the hill-fort of Ivangėnai Karšuva. On the basis of the research conducted by the anthropologist R. Jankauskas (he investigated the remains of two men and one woman), the conclusions are drawn concerning certain aspects of the society's social life, its relationship with the Baltic world and the rest of Europe.
