Summary/Abstract: Back in 1923 in his registry of the Slavic manuscripts B. Conev states that Paulician collection from the Bulgarian National Library of “SS. Cyril and Methodius” needs special research, but still it is not thoroughly studied. The most serious studies of Paulicians and their dialect so far belong to L. Miletich and these are his works “Our Paulicians” and “The Paulician dialect”. The current study examines two Paulician manuscripts: № 778 and № 779 from Bulgarian National Library, written at the end of the 18th century by the Catholic priest of Paulician origin Petar Kovachev. Their lexical characteristics are especially interesting, because they present a mixture of Old Bulgarian lexis, borrowings from Croatian and Italian, dialect characteristics, most of which are of Turkish origin, as well as borrowings from Old Church Slavonic language. In one of my previous articles I present the thesis that the infl uence of Croatian and Italian languages is mainly in the Christian lexis, which is related to the religious life and the Christian faith of Catholics (Abadzhieva 2013: 269). The current study will try to develop this thesis.
