Summary/Abstract: The founding of the Bulgarian Marine Corps triggers the interest amongst researchers occasionally. Due to different reasons the topic has not been explored enough, which is proven by the comparison the data from the Russian archival sources to the respective publications. Remaining unclear are the number and the strength of the Bulgarians studying in the Marine School, Saint Petersburg; the school and state policy towards them; the influence on the admission and the results from the education of Bulgarians in major events such as the Union, the War between Serbia and Bulgaria (1885) the end of the relations between Russia and the United Principality. Without claiming thoroughness this publication contributes to the clarification of some of the specified questions.
