Directions and aims of the regional development policy for the region of Podkarpacie in the years 2007-2013

Summary/Abstract: The regional development policy for the region of Podkarpacie constituting an integral part of the development policy of Poland is supported by EU funds with the use of the principle of co-financing by the resources coming from the central budget and territorial self-government units and other public and private entities. The proper use of structural funds by introducing proper, durable mechanisms of cooperation and coordination between the government and self-governments as well as active participation of social, scientific and economic organisations have particular significance in the process of regional development. As a result, the essential problem is to show the directions and aims of the regional development policy. The aim of the publication − based on the analysis of programme documents for the region of Podkarpacie − is to show the directions of social and economic development for this region, assumptions of the Regional Innovation Strategy in the context of the regional policy and their influence on competitiveness of the region of Podkarpacie, as well as introducing the innovative potential and research and development infrastructure as well as their influence on knowledge transfer in Podkarpackie Voivodeship.
