Summary/Abstract: The meaning of spatial order in the regional development is so far little valued. There is a serious lack of spatial order in the availability of developmental areas. However, the permanent pressure of the market principles and the lack of the effective spatial planning system in Poland deepen this problem. Spatial order is taken into account mainly in the local planning which does not give the positive effects in this sphere in the scale of the regions. The requirement to achieve higher degree of the territorial cohesion of these entities is the author’s suggestion to take into account the improvement of spatial order at the regional level. The main problem of this article is the justification of this thesis. The challenge of the present time is to take on the work about the idea of the very order in all its aspects and about the system of spatial planning in Poland.
