Summary/Abstract: This article searches for an answer to the question of why the German philosopher Johannes Rehmke, who was very influential during the 1920s and 1930s, today is practically unknown to the philosophical com munity. The evaluation of the philosophical work of Dimitar Michaltchew – one of the most prominent followers of J. Rehmke depends on the answer to the question above. The initial thesis dwells on the style of philosophizing of J. Rehmke determined as analytical. Such a style is demonstrated by thinkers for whom philosophy is above all an answer to the question of “what does it mean” – an elucidation of an analysis of ideas. The analytical style of philosophyzing has concrete historical manifestations and the modern analytical philosophy is one of them. Its specifi cs stems from its methodological orientation towards the logical and logico-semantical analysis. Being analytical in terms of style, the philosophy of J. Rehmke and D. Michaltchew does not comply with the modern standard of analytical philosophyzing because it ignores the logical approach to the philosophical problems. Therefore after World War II J. Rehmke became démodé and today there is almost no interest in his views. This evaluation of the philosophy of J. Rehmke and D. Michaltchew is illustrated by two of their lap ses as to modern logic – their concept about relations and about negative statements.
