Summary/Abstract: The article presents a critical analysis of the views of Bertrand Russell on philosophy in different works of his. The author outlines and comments three ideas of Russell in particular as being very important: on defining philosophy as a sphere of theoretical thinking outside science, on distinguishing between two kinds of philosophical theories depending on the motives that provoked them and on the impossibility to define the concept of philosophy. In conclusion the concept of Bertrand Russell on philosophy is considered a basis of a well-founded answer to the question “What is philosophy?“.
