Commentaries to the Holy Liturgy in the Works of St Clement of Ohrid

Summary/Abstract: The commentaries to the Holy Liturgy are an important part of Byzantine written heritage. Unlike Byzantine literary tradition, the Bulgarian literature from the ninthtenth century produced a limited number of such texts. This paper aims to prove that the sermons of St. Clement of Ohrid could be used as a source in the explanation of the Liturgy. On the basis of some of St. Clement’s sermons, the article provides a reconstruction of the concept of the Liturgy.
