Unknown Verse Life of St Petka of Tarnovo

Summary/Abstract: A Festal Menaion from the manuscript collection of the Athonite monastery St. Dionysios (MS 801 from the sixteenth century) includes a Verse Life of St. Petka that has not been published so far. Some details of its content indicate that it is connected only to the saint’s Life written by Patriarch Euthymios. The author suggests that the Verse Life could be related to the activities of the last Bulgarian patriarch and interpreted as evidence supporting Euthymios’ authorship of the Tarnovo Office of St. Petka.
