Summary/Abstract: A. Sarandopulos translation into Greek of the idioms encountered in the novel “Poor people” written by F. Dostoevsky is analyzed in the article. The present study evaluates the adequacy of the idioms’ translation (phrase equivalency, analogy, tracing, descriptive translation). Based on the results of conducted critical study it was concluded that the translator had successfully fulfilled the task of transferring into Greek the phraseology of the novel written by the Russian classic
