Summary/Abstract: This paper presents the characteristics of one of the actors of social economy i.e. social cooperatives. The first part presents basic concepts of social economy. Then it shows legal framework conditions for the functioning of social cooperatives in Poland. The next part of the article examines the place of social cooperatives in the employment policy in Poland.
