Summary/Abstract: The study considers the issue of social cohesion in the member states of the European Union in 2006-2015. The research has been conducted on two levels. The first one involves the review of definitions of social cohesion and its most important factors. The second consists of the analysis of chosen indexes monitoring social cohesion in the member states. Descriptive statistics and correlation analysis have been used. The obtained results confirm the existence of noticeable differences in the level of social cohesion between the member states. The most significant discrepancies were observed in the unemployment rate and in the pay gap level. The at-risk-of-poverty rate and the Gini coefficient remained on average at the similar level for the whole European Union, which did not reflect the changes that had taken place in particular states.
