Summary/Abstract: Science on ethics during history has focused on the question of truth, good and responsibility. It goes without saying that ethics was not capable alone of establishing these three postulates, nor defending them when they were in jeopardy by, of course, human acts. With development of communication technologies – media: print and electronic, truth, good and responsibility become their big issue, especially nowadays when culture of communication has risen to very high level and became the issue of majority who “wants to know”. In that context questions: What is truth, what is good and what is responsibility rise. Are the truth, good and responsibility what media say they are or are they something else? In general, that is the most complicated question, which was raised in the end of 20th century. Almost all most influential philosophers of modern world asked and looked for answers to these questions. Special contribution to this was given by German philosophers Karl-Otto Apel and Jürgen Habermas. This article analyses ethical standpoints of these philosophers and points to accuracy of their ethical thinking. It will also point to the importance of their theories for contemporary communication science.
