Summary/Abstract: This article reviews the origins, nature, functioning and development prospects for executive agencies in Poland. These institutions are one of the elements of the New Public Management concept which since the 90s has been introduced in the public sector in many European countries and the EU administration. In 2012 Poland will have nine executive agencies.
